Curious Films, Rootz and Canterbury City Council worked with young people from secondary schools in Cantebury to produce a DVD about the best ways to teach pupils who speak more than one language and how they can access support and advice in school.

The nine young people from Canterbury High School, Chaucer Technology School, Simon Langton Girls' School and Archbishop's School worked with Curious Films on the Rootz project over six weeks.

In the DVD, the pupils discuss what has helped and not helped them fit in at school and also what helps them to learn. They also interviewed their teachers on issues which effect the education of young people from an ethnic minority background.

During the sessions the young people were able to handle the film equipment and, based on their own experiences, use drama and interview techniques to look at different situations and peoples feelings.
