I included instructions in the beginning so I wouldn't have to explain it all. Gameplay begins at 3:48. I played this to the first boss after which the game soon crashed. I included the death scene from a separate play. I used two cheats. The first one makes me move faster by default and the other nullifies reversed controls caused by "dizzy" spell. Keyboard is needed for four keys (c64 keys: 1 = metamorphose food, CTRL = firestorm (dispatches webs), ARROW LEFT = collect item and SPACE BAR = access character menu).

There's tree spells and different special abilities (which need to be collected). Fireball is most useful of the spells, because it can be used to destroy walls. The strength of a spell can be changed and higher level spells will drain more mana. It's easy to drain all the mana after which the game get's really hard. Potions are replenished when returning to a previously visited area, but other items are not. Those ape monsters move in such a way that they can block a whole passageway by themselves if you don't have mana to kill them. The eyes shoot following bullets which can be hard to dodge. Killed monsters will remain to block the way for ten seconds as stinking piles.

I bought this game for c64 (without trying it first), but I don't have the original anymore.

  • OCEAN LOADER!! My favourite.

  • I wish to underline here, in case of confusion, that the Ocean Loader 2 tune used at instructions was selected by the cracker. I didn't include it here and it's not part of the original game.

  • Thank you for uploading this game. It is brilliant. Reminds me of Gauntlet.

  • Thanks for your comment Laoch.

I would think this as simple version of Druid 2 (also influenced by Gauntlet) which was released before this one and also by Firebird.

Gameplay here isn't as good as in Gauntlet. First of all, you can't move sideways and there's a lot less room for movement because everything is larger. Maybe this adds some charm for the game though.
