@IntoVariety247 it wasn't a "gimmick" in 77 when we all tripped on it.....no one had EVER laid down a solo like that on vinyl before..sure, hammer on and pull off had been used before but nowhere to Eddie's usage. Both his parents played in the Amsterdam Philharmonic and Eddie put that classical over-tone into his guitar work...all other neo-classical rockers are trying to obtain with what Eddie was born with

@conan4482 Lucky for some others who have the open mindedness to like them both!! =))

3:18 that's Ripley. A very early form of that song at least. He used that riff for the movie "The Wild Life".

@Murphdogg4 I'll be sure to tell VH so they can send you autographs. With Michael Anthonys too.

Is this recorded on a portable cassette recorder with rotten batteries then played back and re-recorded into something more stable? In addition to the fact that EVH used to play with his guitar tuned down half to Eb there are some well known "guitarisms" in there that's hard or impossible to do unless you tune the guitar UP for a MAJOR THIRD from standard tuning!!! E.g check out the "Alex Lifeson" chord a right after 3:25 and the following minor chord shape. Just saying ... :)

@conan4482 I don't like Rhoads more or less than any other guitar slinger, and think Eruption is gimmick long gone stale, thats it
@AZEIDJSKSQMM ok we all know you are another Randy Rhoads fan hating on mr Ed Van Halen. 46 Randy Rhoads fans dislike Van Halen. What else is new.
