they stop chinese guns from being imported in to the US, so now China is selling them to less responsible people in places like Africa ect.

At least you give the ability to fight to those opposing. Weapons have been the source of stability through balance of lethal power.
Takes a while to reach the balance point and usually governments fear the potential of weapons because they can be overthrown.
Money corrupts people and corrupts seek power to consolidate the corruption cycle forcing others to do what they want, how to oppose them? with a bible?
