Cheers - Where Everybody Knows Your Name - Music By Gary Portnoy

"Where Everybody Knows Your Name" is the theme song from the 1980s television sitcom Cheers. The song was written by Gary Portnoy and Judy Hart Angelo and performed by Portnoy. Shortly after the premiere of Cheers, Gary Portnoy went back into the studio to record a full-length version of the song that made the US and British pop charts. It was not until the release of Portnoy's album, Keeper (2004), that that version was made available on CD (and shortly thereafter on iTunes).

Cheers passed me by when I was a kid, but the comedy was often in the background. Since my work mate keeps singing this one to me I've begun to "appreciate" the melody more. So here it is "Where Everybody Knows Your Name".

I am sorry about that and it is VERY sad that that happened, its so nice that you have a beautiful song to remind you of her, thats always nice to have something to hold on to when somebody passes away...and Rosswoof i think their comment makes the song more peaceful and more than just some random song, its gives it meaning, even if you didn't know the girl

thank you for playing this song... when I was in Elementry school there was a girl that played this song for the whole class, it was great. Years passed and I never really talked to her. She was killed a few years ago by a nut on craiglist. He had an ad for a babysitter job. Well she showed up and he shot her in the back. Very sad to hear. She was such a nice person. I was looking for something good to hear and found you playing this song. I will always keep this happy memory of her. Thanks.
