I get my Canon S5 IS tomorrow...its a used one, and I can only hope it don't fall apart on me!.. this photo/video here is exactly why I bought this camera. Combining some video with photos is great!..and this video here proves exactly what I mean!..

I think it depends on the type of memory card you are using. The S5 has been discontinued and it is nearly impossible to find one any more anywhere as of October 2008. Don't buy the successor (the SX10 IS) for the video quality: it is no match to the S5 IS -- don't know why Canon had to mess that up...

This camera (which has been discontinued) takes absolutely FANTASTIC VIDEO IN STEREO --even in LOW light when it will no longer take a decent PHOTO on Auto! It performs better than most video cameras in the $300-$400 price range! (There are some videos on my channel that I took with the Canon S5.)
I am less impressed with the photo quality... The successor to the S5 is the SX10 IS...sadly, Canon messed up that wonderful video quality!

I am looking at this camera, because the picture taking looks great. However i have heard that you can only take 30 minute videos before the memory card runs out. is this true?

Hey just wondering does this camera let you take pictures during video recording mode? I'm confused since in your video it looks like it. Is that done for effect though?
