Y'Hello all, welcome to my videoguide on how to AoE with flyff's Ranger. This is part I of a sequence of 4 videos. Since v15, ranger is one of the strongest classes late-game (Craskshooter). However, I've got a lot of people asking me how I ever made it through the low levels, as they are a hell. Well, that basically is the purpose of this video. I'll be giving you tips and will show you many examples on how to play a ranger early-game. By early-game, I mean, before your block rate kicks in.
Yet, not everyone can play a ranger. To be able to play a ranger successfully you shouldn't mind dying occasionally. That's just what a ranger is early-game. You're squishy! Despite that, if you practice on how to use your ranger and learn when to run (before you die), you'll be a very successful ranger!
Furthermore this guide is based on a totally unfunded ranger, so it suits everyone well. I did basically start from zero for this guide. Sure, I used my lv103 RM to get to lv50 and I 'stole' some average jewelry from my other characters (2x vigor+9, 2x demol+12), but vigor is worthless for a ranger and I'm using plug earrings in this video (made from scratch!).
Please note: This video does not nearly cover everything. To tell you everything it'll take me much much more than 15 minutes. That's why this is only part I of a sequence of 4 videos.
Jewelry:
A ranger has a lot of possibilities upon what jewelry to use. Let's go over each set of jewels separately:
For your ring, you may use either Areks (dex) or either Stams (sta). It is rather obvious what the advantages of each are. With Arek rings you'll get a little bit more block, evasion & damage, whereas Stams give you a bunch of HP & DEF. At the lower levels (say, below 90), you're usually best off having the boost in HP/DEF to make you able to tank simultaneous criticals (see part II of this video guide). Late-game, when you're block rate is maxed out (97% if I'm not mistaken), areks will do for the damage.
For your earrings we have a similar dilemma: Demols or Plugs. Of course, a third option would be Speedos, but they are expensive to such an extent I won't discuss them here. if you're incredibly funded, go ahead, and buy them. But I'll assume you are unfunded. Same as for the rings, demols are kinda the only way to go in late-game, whereas you're much better off having plugs early-game. In this video I'm using 1 plug+3 and 1 plug+4. Remember, using a moonstone, you're able to upgrade a plug+0 to +3 without your plug being able to break! With one plug, I risked upgrading it to +4 even. I made these from scratch.
Thirdly, your necklace. This is totally personal preference across your entire ranger career. Having a mental necklace, you'll have a bigger mana pool. This will allow you for more "lazy" AoE-ing. This will NOT reduce your MPpot consumption however! Your skills still cost the same amount of MP. The other option is the gore necklace, to add a little HP. This gives so few HP you may say "lol, not worth it". Despite that, that tiny bit of HP may save your life. I've been below 50 HP several times while leveling to lv60. Guess what? Without that gore necklace of mine, I'd have been dead. I'm using a gore+4 in this video. Yet, your necklace is personal preference. There is no "good" or "wrong". Despite that, I recommend a gore necklace as I like it better.
In this video:
0:34 Stat build (I'm using 35 sta rest dex for this video)
0:54 Gear (Use the lv43 npc set at first, and the lv53 npc set afterwards up to lv60. Also, use a npc bow. For the video I found all my bows before I even had to buy them!)
1:49 Buff Pang (Always level with Buff Pang's buffs!)
2:01 Skill build
(prior 1: Arrow Rain, Perfect Block. prior 2: Bow Mastery, Fast Walker)
3:10 Hotkeys (How do I organize my hotkeys to AoE successfully?)
4:23 Pipeline (How to AoE with a 10 seconds CD skill? This is only one AoE style though, used by some BJs as well! In part II I'll go over my favourite lv50 style.)
5:36 Elementing (What element for your suit / weapon ?)
7:10 DO NOT EVER AoE THESE!
7:52 Ranged Enemies
9:04 Through my eyes! (lv50 [me] versus lv58 [them x11])
10:25 AoE with a healer (lv51 [me] versus lv58 [them x9])
12:03 Experiment! How many EXP do I get with and without a partner? (It happens that for my particular situation, leveling with a partner gave me 6.45x more experience than leveling without! I cannot stress enough to show you to importance of leveling with a partner!)
14:40 Ending screen (hyperlinks to part II etc.)

I read the description and was wondering if the jewelry sets are better?
(Defender's Set, Marksman's Set, Champion's Set)
I want to know if I should buy set or regular jewelry.

@andybyskov The set jewelry give you the same effects as the regular jewelry, with a set effect in addition.
The choice for you to make is "is it worth the extra money?". My answer to that is, when you're rich, certainly. When you're only just starting... No. Focus on your regular gear and your weapon.
Furthermore you need to decide if it's worth, for example, to use 2 Vigor Rings for the set effect, as STR is worthless for a Ranger.
It's totally what you prefer.

Flame Arrow --> Arrow Rain --> Ice Arrow ---> Flame Arrow ---> Ice Arrow ---> Piercing Arrow
And then repeat
Thats the most dmg / sec as Ranger and allows casting F- Skills without break
PowerOfRealMusic 1 month ago
@PowerOfRealMusic False.
Piercing Arrow deals more damage than Ice Arrow and for that reason you should do:
Flame - Rain - Pierce - Flame - Ice - Pierce - Repeat.
Yet I'm not sure why you posted this as I didn't post the AoE sequence for lv70+ yet in any video of this guide?
FrozenCure 1 month ago
@FrozenCure Well yeah, but I prefer Ice since I dont allways get all mobs with piercing
PowerOfRealMusic 1 month ago
@PowerOfRealMusic I can only say touché to that. (Which is French for "good point").
Personally I never have had that problem though, as I use the "Ice Arrow Initiation" tactic as described in part III of the video. This will cause all monsters to be at one side of me.
