Ariaza has had an unusual vocal history. He started off as a bass-baritone. He moved up to baritone and then lyric tenor. Then he went higher yet to Rossini tenor. He recorded most of the Mozart tenor roles and here he assays the lighter HeldenTenor parts. Pretty versatle!

Meistersinger Araiza, owner of a marvellous voice, has been enchanting the world of Opera, at first with Mozart and Donizetti, afterwards with Verdi and Puccini, then Wagner.
Salute al bravissimo Maestro!!!

Such a gorgeous instrument. God, why did he have to go and sing so much of this rep. He was great in the lyric part of Mozart and Verdi, plus a Rodolfo here and there.

VOCALLY PERFECT. NOT FOR HIS TYPE
-
that's why the guy won! ;)

the sound is very reasonable, but the balance is bad, because the orchestra is too close to the mike(s), relative to the voices.
this looks like a constume rehearsal to me.

The sound is awful, he sings very well
A true Meistersinger!!!!!

Wow, Araiza can sing light lyric tenor roles (Mozart) and go up to Wagner.
Domingo has done the same, but while he is a great tenor, his voice is simply not as beautiful as Araiza's, and Araiza's high register is of course superior.
