@scotsmanmemag It is said that they were "of every Clean animal by sevens". This indicates individual species considered healthful to humans at that time, and easy to domesticate (sheep, goat, cattle, etc). This way, there would be greater numbers for future survival and adaptability. Also, these clean animals would have been used in future sacrifices to God by his people.

@scotsmanmemag Re: sheep, Dr. Henry Morris, a scholar on the Bible and history, was saying that the Ark had room for 125,000 sheep-sized animals to be stored, and the average size of all animals is SMALLER than a sheep. So there would have been plenty of room for all animal representatives, eight people, and provisions until the end of the Flood. As for the seven animals, I don't know what the purpose was for that number...

@andrewfink1 The idea of the Bible contradicting itself is based only on the ground that the whole Bible wasn't read. Single passages may contradict each other, but if you read the relative contexts, they develop a further understanding of God's message. The dimensions of the ark were recorded to be 300 x 50 x 30 cubits, which is the measurement of a man's arm from elbow to fingertips, which is approximately 18". In modern terms, that's about 450x75x45 feet...

@scotsmanmemag First where did you get this informantion. Second you relize that some text say that god wanted 7 out of 7 animals. The bible contradicts itself.Also i still dont believe you could fit 125,000 sheep on a boat that small i want the source.

@catherinesteph What is an Ardipithecus Ramidus? If you accept the Global Flood written in Genesis, the reason there are very few, if any, fossilized humans is because they would have been more mobile, able to run away from potential mudslides, until there was no place to go. Then they would have drowned and decayed on the surface of the water. Re: later records of history. True, Moses wrote the first 5 books of the Bible, but there was no "millions of years", more like 2-3000.

@andrewfink1 It has been proven that all of the current species of animals can each be traced back to a common ancestor of their kind, so the actual representation on the ark would have been smaller than you would think. Also, even using the smallest possible translation of the Ark's dimensions, there would have been room for over 125,000 sheep-sized animals. The overall average size of any and all land animals is smaller than a sheep, so there was plenty of room.

@catherinesteph If the story of humanity is not based on proven, fact-based evidence of history, then it is only a legend: nice to hear, but doesn't bear weight in the long run of life. Also, the Bible isn't about the struggle of humanity and it's triumph (over what?), it is essentially about God's creation, mankind's depravity, and the overwhelming love of God for His children.
