http://www.materialpossessions.com has done it again with a great presentation by renowned designer Susanne Lovell as she designs a dinning experience that evolved into A Little Lobster Salad.
The creator of our July Table of the Month, Interior Designer Suzanne Lovell, was struck by that same inspiration. Suzanne is the principal of Suzanne Lovell Inc. a Chicago based architectural interior design firm. Recently honored as one of "The AD 100" by Architectural Digest magazine, Suzanne is one of the foremost designers in the country.
With over 20 years of experience, one thing that Suzanne prides herself on is mixing and matching different colors and textures to create a look that is truly unique. Suzanne advises her clients that it is important to find a look that expresses your own personality and tastes, which often just takes finding the right piece that catches your eye and building your design around it.
That is exactly what Suzanne did when creating this table. She based the design around lovely, hand painted garden plates by Anna Weatherley and worked from there. After layering colorful chargers with metallic dinner plates, the garden plates were simply magnificent topping it all off. The texture of the beach stone placemats may be a bit unexpected, but certainly adds another layer of texture that works beautifully to complete the garden theme. Using colorful napkins along with cloisonné frog and gold birch bark napkin rings, she brings the outdoors in. The center of the table has two vases filled with flowers and a grand candelabra to set it aglow.
We hope this will inspire you to create a garden setting at your own dining table, and don't be afraid to mix colors and textures; the end result may sometimes surprise you with how wonderful it turns out!
Is the designer saying "Anna WeatherSley" and not Anna Weatherley? It sounds like she doesn't know her product line. I believe I also saw Jaune de Chrome or was it JLCoquet in there that I didn't see her mention...
