You may be able to jump a horse, but can you do it standing up with out a saddle or bridle? This is me standing up on my barn's pony, Clarence, with only a lead rope attached to the girth/ sursyngle (?) and a lead rope attached to a wire around the pony's neck to tell him where to go. I also stand on a pad as it is better for his back. We have been working very hard for months to get to this level. We are planning on adding a vault e (extremely small circle) where the first circle is, cantering instead of trotting, another standup rider mirroring the routine, high fives with the other rider, possibly switching horses while standing up, more waving, higher fences, and bowing at the end (the horses). This is a very raw version of the routine. It is our first performance- it was at a my barn's home show in the "wire" class. I ride at Foxfield Riding School in Westlake Village, Southern California. We have the Foxfield Equestrian Drill Team who rides and performs on horses with nothing but a flexible wire around the horse's neck for emergencies; the idea is to ride with natural aids only- no artificial aids. We have performed at the Olympics, lead the Rose Parade, at Madison Square Garden, every year at the Santa Barbara Polo Grounds, and just recently we performed for and met Will and Kate. Everybody on the team is 18 and under. We have "specialty acts," during the performances and I decided to bring back the stand up routine. Here we are jumping about 2' 3" and we are working our way up to 2' 9." The circles were accidents, I kept feeling him slowing down, so I circled to get a better pace to jump. I actually missed the last fence because he was down, and I was afraid he wouldn't jump it. This is so fun and is my new favorite type of riding!! haha :D Probably our last performances for this year are going to both be on September 10th, at the Conejo Creek Equestrian Park in the morning and the Kings Grove in the afternoon. Please tell me how to improve or give more ideas. Sorry this is so long. Have a fun day!!! :)
:) thank you

I'd suggest doing it on a smaller horse!! haha! What stuff are you using and have you done it before? The first few times we did it, we just practiced jumping off and landing running which has actually really helped. It really just takes a lot of practice; we found that the faster, the better! It's easier if the horse is warmed up and forward, and trotting was way easier than walking! We also use a long dressage whip to tap him and tell him where to go and how fast. Good luck!! :)
