Scarlet Macaw and Squirrel

At the entrance to the childrens zoo at San Diego, is this gorgeous Scarlet Macaw. He has talked to us before, but not this morning. But he got cute and turned his head upside down for us. Behind him is a squirrel eating from his feeding dish.

Actually it is a Scarlet. Green wings have NO yellow! Do a google and you'll see.

yeah and by the looks of it the red is a lot brighter on the scarlet macaws than on the greenwings :)

@sammy2006rulzs This is definitely a scarlet macaw = wing pattern is red/yellow/blue and the bird has no facial feathers on the white skin patch. Greenwing wing patterns are red/green/blue and have red facial feathers on the white skin patch

madhouse002 is correct, this is a scarlet macaw. We have one of each and they are very easy to tell the difference. The yellow on the wings means its a scarlet, if it had green on the wings and facial feathers it would be...wait for it... a green wing. There is also a size difference between the two types, greens being slightly larger.

That's quite obviously a scarlet... not a green.
