In which the gentleman in question reviews the 1989 board game Aliens by Leading Edge Games, based on the 1986 James Cameron movie of the same name. Aliens is a tense, moody and exciting game of escape, action and even some role-play if you choose to throw it in. This ranks as one of my favourite board game bar none.

Should you own a copy you no longer want, please do get in touch. I would be willing to make an exchange or purchase in order to have my own copy, as the one I used for review is borrowed from a friend.

  • I bought this game when it first appeared many years ago, I also bought the expansion which I still haven't yet used.

I played the Aliens board game tonight with my kids. We managed to get all characters through the exit, all be it with a few rules being bent to make it easier for my 5 and 10 year old LOL

This board game is the best board game I have ever played, period. I also used to own the role playing game which was also enjoyable to play. Unfortunately I sold that on, and regret it.

  • @andymuza Glad you're still getting enjoyment out of it!

  • Just got the game for Christmas, Best Board game ever. Worth the $200 dollars!

  • @McJohn0117 Excellent! I'm glad you like it.

  • I have this game, bought it when it came out in 89 and I agree it is one of the best games out there. I will never part with it, one of my best investments. Its not surprising to see them go for 50 to 60 $ on e-bay.

  • @TheAcarch2 and now it's an excellent flash game I've recorded the gameplay from for my other channel!

  • @MacAttack001 I'd love to run a game with the same mood as Aliens.

  • @clackclickbang A good GM that is excited about a game is worth their weight in gold and can make even a mediocre game (and I am not saying the Alien's RPG was that) a blast to play. 8-)

  • @MacAttack001 Which is fun for a while, but not forever. I'm sure you could have a varied Colonial Marines game of a sort.

  • @clackclickbang My experience is biased as we had a good GM, I loved the first two movies and game systems like Rolemaster don't intimidate me in the least. LEG's Aliens RPG did precisely what was expected of it and if memory serves it was a 'lite' version of Phoenix Command. Longevity was the problem because of the limited setting material, basically you were Marines, going on one dungeon crawl after another.
