Detroit Tigers outfielder Johnny Damon said on Tuesday he has decided to stay with the team instead of accepting a trade to his former club, the Boston Red Sox. The 36-year-old was claimed off waivers by Boston on Monday, but invoked his no-trade clause to remain with the Tigers. He had until Wednesday to decide. Damon helped lead the Red Sox to the World Series title in 2004 -- the franchise's first since 1918 -- when he hit .304 with 20 home runs and 94 runs batted in. In 113 games this year, Damon has clubbed seven homers and knocked in 41 while hitting .273.
