kfb means "knit front back" or knit into the front of the stitch and then the back of that same stitch. The kfb increase becomes the "kbf" increase when working an Eastern oriented stitch. They're visually different, but it's pretty subtle, and it's easy to work either way.
I find this increase useful when increasing in knit/purl patterns that will absorb the small blip formed by the 2nd stitch.
