Toyota said it is developing a "Prius family" of hybrids for North America and plans to introduce eight all-new hybrid models over "the next few years," including a production version of the compact FT-CH concept that is debuting this week at the 2010 Detroit Auto Show.

i stand corrected. there's nothing i want less than a prius trying to be a sports car.

what is the point?! really?! every dollar spent on hybrids is another dollar spent on wasted, out-of-date techonology. its only purpose was to be a transitional phase between petroleum and the next big thing.

why aren't we funding the hydrogen fuel cell?!

I mean, first of all, the fuckin part was made by an American manufacturing company!! Its NOT MADE IN JAPAN!!! Its like MADE IN USA!! Damn it!! TOyota has to ask AMerican manufacturing companines to make some of their parts in order to evade trade conflict. But that eventually lead this problem.

For 15k and 60mpg I think a lot of people will be willing to ignore its looks. . At this price point it would crush its competition.. think Fiesta, Focus, Civic.. all would become obsolete. Heck people buy ugly cars now that are expensive and horrible on gas.. I don't think Id care if I never saw Pontiac Aztec again.

Why does this car look like it's made out of plastic and clay??? These automakers are nuts if they think this will be a big hit with the mainstream public. Why do they even waste money and time on this? And why are automakers still working on the hybrid? The hybrid will never solve our need for an alternative fuel source. They should save some money and put out cars with normal engines in them that they've been making for years, and allocate the rest into alternative fuel research.
