  • I guess you gotta be there. I dont hear any difference except volume.

  • @pedecamp The DS1 Keeley have a lot more bass response, more gain and volume. Better on high harmonics and not too "sharp" "edgy" like the regular Boss. Maybe the audio didn´t capture the sound as we tought, but the diferences are obvious.

  • @GuitarGearComMx my ds1 is horrible by itself. so youre saying this mod will make it usable?

  • @pedecamp totally. Check reviews and compare more demos like ours

  • me gusta titias muchos grandes.

  • Dude, you have the tone knob on the stock DS-1 up all the way. WTF, of course it sounds terrible. Also, you should have the switch UP on the keeley for a better direct comparison.

  • The Keely or the DIY Allum's mod take this pedal from noobish amateur junk to a professional level, no doubt about it. It may not be so obvious in this vid but in real life it does. BTW same with the MT-2 which I think is even the best mod ever, best distortion on my board is the Allum's modded MT-2.

  • It's difficult to hear the difference on YT. In person though, the difference is quite dramatic. Vai used one for years.

  • why usin pedals havin a les paul? :D

  • Hmm...there are some really badly recorded ds-1 vs Keeley ds-1 shootouts on youtube, this is the first half decent one I've heard. Gotta be honest, I think the stock unit sounds better, but I guess its subjective. I dont think the keeley mod necessarily makes it a better pedal, just gives it a different sound...so to wlmnn's comment below, I understand why Boss havent replaced the standard ds-1 with a keeley-type version at a higher price. I think there is a lot of hype surrounding these mods...

  • @whattheworldrejects it's not the tone knob, but level.. DS-1 has the tone on the left knob and level on the middle one. Which makes no sense, with how they position them in their other pedals but there it is.

  • totally right, the upright is more of keeley modded comparison and demos like this do this to get that dramatic "OH MAN the stock sounds so nasally and one sided!" well of course it does with the tone all the way up :/

  • Why changing the sound of an already great distortion. It make a shit one. The original sounds much better.

  • Most effective comparison I've seen. The difference is plainly obvious. Time to send off my stock model for its liberation!

  • Much ballsier tone with the Keeley. Nice. I would say it makes the regular DS-1 sound thin and brittle by comparison, but the regular one does that by itself even without a Keeley sitting next to it. Why doesn't Boss just make the DS-1 to Keeley specs in the first place and just charge a little bit more for it?
