And you definitely raise a valid point and I totally agree.

I feel like these students could've and shoul've gone about it differently and they did suffer the consequences, however, you have to understand where they were coming from. They were very upset and obviously weren't thinking clearly. The authorities obviously had no control over the situation and did what they thought was best, although fighting violence with violence never resolves anything. Still, I respect your polite opinion.

I stand corrected. I read in other comments that this particular school was a rich private school.

The point of my post, to put it more politely, is that most people are not upset with the students protesting, they are upset with their aggressive and obnoxious behavior. The students unruly behavior towards the police was dealt with appropriately. The students went too far and paid the consequences.

People aren't angry that these spoiled brats are protesting, they are angry about the way they are protesting. These rich punks are unorganized, extremely aggressive and rude. These punks crossed a line and deserved to be pepper sprayed.

If these spoiled brats would have protested in a civil manner, there would have been no backlash against them.

In my humble opinion, people who do NOT attend SMC, should shut the fuck up. You all clearly have no idea why these students were protesting and yet you mindlessly call them "animals" and "stupid", yet some red necks protesting against abortion or homosexuality is perfectly ok. I'm glad to be a part of this school and the passion these students showed is admirable. While I think that they could've done it differently, I still respect them.
