Just to make my previous comment clear to those who'd be willing to read it in their homophobic veins: I'm not saying that lesbians are not "consistent, able to expose [their] position, and mature"; rather, those who are in the closet by definition assume that they cannot expose their own position. All the members of the board have a position on this, and if they don't come out and say it, perhaps they fear that their support might mistake them for gay.

Sorry to break this to you, but the first time I saw you I really did think you were a lesbian. Maybe that's what's going on, otherwise you'd be consistent, able to expose your position, and mature.

How embarrasing for the school board president. She doesn't even have the courage to speak her convictions.
That 12 year old boy gave a speech which was 100 times more powerful. He showed amazing courage to speak his mind and say that he is gay; and to speak out against gay bullying.

@canectar OK, calling you an ignoramus was uncalled for, I'll admit. I apologize. The rest of my message was simply pointing out the truth that you seem unaware of. Republicans in Congress ARE the ones who have consistently opposed all rights for gays. Check it out. And I'm glad you don't fear "freaks" like me, although I have no idea why what I said might have caused fear in you or anyone else.

What an amazing young man and what an inspiring speech he gave. Shame on the feeble response of the School Board and its unwillingness to support gay students and teachers who stand up for their basic rights against bigots and bullies.
