the first borg cube was ACTUALLY model sprues, all painted black.
apparently, it was just a brainstorming exorcise that they fell in love with. its delightfully "alien"

i do like that cube, i just bought the borg episodes on dvd as they were some of my favourite episodes !! loved the bit at 3.42 ... that was funny and loved your reaction to it..... just like i would do !! great stuff as always

The Borg were some of the best characters ever introduced on TNG. I found that most of the episodes featuring the borg were some of the most well crafted stories, even going into Voyager. Looks like a pretty impressive toy. Although considering the constraints of the TV budget, it's no wonder they redesigned the cube for First Contact! Lol
