the roll was too short, matt hit the cymbals too early. that shook kele off the tempo

I didn't seem to me that Matt went wrong, he always does that little drum roll at that point. I'm not sure why kele stopped singing.

I think matt did the drum fill which comes at the end of the verse too early which made it feel as if they were going into the guitar jam section - that made kele question which part of the song he was at - in turn matt realised what he had done, and recovered - but by this time the lyrics had slipped.
anyway, theyre still minttt.

I think Hallins01 is right.
However, I don't mind when moments like that happen at shows. It makes them more unique and personal, and often it turns the show warm and humorous. I remember a really funny f**k up at U2 show I was front row at, and it became really great w/ the whole audience laughing and smiling.
