@sousuke121 IBM Cell is ONE core at 3.2 GHz and eight RISC SIMD units (SPEs), not seven cores. And on the PS3, one of the SPEs is disabled to increase production yields and another is reserved for XMB, leaving six for games.

@mysteriousjustin You're lying. There's no way you can have 16 cores with two Core i7 processors since there's no Core i7 with 8 cores yet. And even if there were, Core i7 processors can't be used in dual setups, as they only have one QPI link. Xeons, on the other hand, have two, one for communication with the motherboard and the other for communication with the other Xeon.

Yeah but like The PS3s 8 cores may be clocked at 3.2ghz but that doesnt mean its as powerful as a 8-core 3.2ghz from intel or AMD

it means
"A Pentium 3 @ 1,00 GHz runs faster that a Quad Xeon running @ 3,00 GHz"
and it also means
"A P3 running @ 1.0 GHz runs faster than a G4 @ 1.42 GHz".
Please don't post these cosmic bullshits, just go read the books of Andrew Tanenbaum which is one of the greatest expert of CPUs and he will explain you why Pentium sucks and why P3 is crap.
Mac rules, anyone knows it, why just don't admit the truth?

You must try a mac, you'll see how powerful it is. and nowadays the p3 @ 1Ghz it's... a bit slow.
For example, try photoshop. On Windows (3.2 Ghz Prescott, Geforce 6800, 2 Gb Ram) a radial bleur on photoshop it's done in 35 seconds. On Mac OS X (1.42 Ghz G4, Radeon 7000, 1 Gb Ram) just in 23 seconds.
I mean, the p3 is just a nice processor, but if you want to go fast just buy an Intel Core 2 Duo (or a G5, they're fast even today...
