  • @M49Spot NOPE she isn't the one that crashed! This one is now my machine and I have added the underwing radiators and inlet scoop (I'm still trying to find the time to finish painting it like the RAAF Grey Nurse Squadron colours though). Here is the YOUTUBE link for some of it flying with the sound : youtube.com/watch?v=wbGzHGlDfv8

  • It would have been nice to hear what the engine sounded like instead of that crap music........ nice replica though, I hope it wasn't the replica spit that crashed today, the pilot was killed! :(

  • @zeeksgarage I totally agree zeeksgarage nothing beats the sound of the rolls royce merlin engine...........

  • Spitfire Aircraft Company based in Aussie use an Alison V12 which is 1200hp compared to MK3 Spitfire of 1400 hp, the kit which is 100% scale is made of wood in a similar process to de havilland mosquito is also 2000lbs (1 ton) lighter, according to them performance is better than MKIX considering the lighter weight

  • As a mechanical Engineering student, even as a 19 year old, you should know that you can't just "completely accurate scale" something and have it work like a smaller version of the original. Materials behave differently depending on proportion, and interestingly enough, the environment does not scale to match.

It's also mentioned on their site as to why they were allowed to use the name "Supermarine". Keep reading.

If you think you can make something better for the price, go for it.

  • If you're going to use the English language, at least use it properly. Poor grammar and spelling simply pervades any sense of credibility you thought you were showing by your Google-searched knowledge of these aircraft.

Do some research. Look on their site and read WHY they are making smaller aircraft than the original Spitfires. Stop whining... oh, wait, you're from the UK ;)
