The Economy Drive.

Having come home from holiday to find that Sid has left all the lights on, the TV running, and failed to cancel the milk and the papers, Hancock decides to go on an economy drive. Problems arise in a self-service cafeteria, and even a short stay in hospital fails to save them any money.

  • I don't understand. It's all disjointed but it's the same show. I are confuzzled :-(

  • It is my opinion that if you open a selection hatch and find Liz Fraser behind it you should be able to purchase Liz Fraser for your lunch.... yum yum!

  • Tony says individual fruit flan then the second time says independent fruit flan, it come to 4/5p as he only has 3 shillings is told to put something back but still has to pay for the food on the floor so puts back the tea and sweet which she should say makes it 2/11p but says 4/5p again by mistake and Tony says the same thing, the 2/11p would leave him with one penny and as he has payed for the food on the floor he ends up with only a roll for his 2/11p today they would reshoot it but not then

  • This isn't Part II at all. It doesn't follow on from Part I - which is a slight clue!

  • English food before the Elizabeth David revolution...

  • My aunt used to like Tony Hancock; then she died, bless her.

There's about fifty times as much canned laughter as jokes.

  • I remember watching this in 1959, ten years before i was born, and it was one of the funniest... no, wait - ooh, im all confused now!

  • Did anyone else notice that the chap in the queue who Tony first pushes into at the beginning is actually Norman Coburn, who played Fisher in 'Home and Away' ?

  • Well that sure sounded like an audience thoroughly enjoying themselves.

The cashier is the one who does the egg adverts with Tony, isn't she?
