Does Your Car Need High-Mileage Oil?
Although high mileage oils are very very good at what they do, I don't recommend using them until you have a problem. Well the reason for that is that on various parts inside the engine we have internal seals that are bathed in oil. And one of the differences between the high mileage oil and the conventional oil is that it is has more swellers, chemicals that expand these seals to make them tight. Well, if you have an oil consumption problem or something the high mileage oil might fix it but, if you use it at a just a blank mileage like 75,000 miles what's going to happen is your probably going to be committed to using it for the rest of the life of the vehicle because the seals will be worn in to just swelled up expanded condition what you might have to do, you might have to use a high mileage synthetic in order to avoid consuming large amounts of oil.

  • Hard to hear Pat with that bad rock music playing, it's ok for an intro or exit, but not during the entire video. He's the country's premiere master mechanic and it's hard to hear.

  • Mobil 1 extended performance or castrol syntec European formula is the best type 4 synthetic there is.

  • @AGreedyTree I wouldn't go "high mileage" for just the reasons Pat said in the vid. You want "high detergent" there is a difference.

  • buy Castrol if your car is European car but Mobil or 76 if your car is US car and japanese cars just use any but especially german cars? need 100% european tech based castrol such as BENZ or BMW only Castrol

  • I use only castrol Syntec 5W30 I can't trust any other bland engine oil becayse all engine oils are produced different tec because different people different countries cars engine

  • I bought some Pennzoil high mileage on sale, our vehicles have less than 75k on them, I'm sure it's okay to use this HM oil just once, correct?

  • Pat is the MAN! been watchging him on MOTORWEEK for over 20 years.....sometimes Pat is a bit alarmist about some things but all in all I respect his opinions!

  • my car has 167000 miles. theres no problems yet. would temporarily using high milage oil be ok? does high milage clean out sludge or varnish? i usually use conventional oil.
