Steps to Success Learned at the Ball Park

I love the ballpark. It reminds me of when my son was younger and I watched many a game when he was a child and later as a teenager. He learned many life lessons on the court with his team, and so did I as I watched him.

One of the things these kids learned was that you cannot get to second base if you do not take your foot off of first. Now that sounds really simple, however in life we cannot get to our goals and dreams if we do not get out of our own comfort zone, and we do not get out of our own way.

You would often see players start taking the lead, take a couple of steps and stop, take another couple of steps and stop. Then there would be that moment of decision where they would take off, and there was no turning back.

They did that, not knowing if they were going to be safe. They did not know if they were going to slide in, get toppled over or knocked out. The same thing happens in life when you pursue your goals and dreams.

You really do not know how things are going to turn out. You can make the best decisions based on the information you have, but you also have to have faith that the process will unfold as it should.

Furthermore, when the boys got to second base they could more clearly see third and they knew they were that much closer to home. With each base they took they could feel the run that they were about to score. They could see and feel that satisfaction of helping their team out.

You will find the same thing in life. With each step you take towards success and each stage that you go through in moving towards your goals and dreams, you are actually going to see clearer and get that better perspective.

Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off... the right pitch will come, but when it does, be prepared to run the bases. ~Rick Maksian

Another thing that I learned and continue to observe today while watching professionals play; these are grown men who are playing and they have played the game hundreds of times, over and over again, they know their craft, and they get paid big bucks to do so, yet they still have life coaches at the bases who are guiding them, encouraging them, and telling them when they should go.

It is not because they are incompetent, but rather because these personal coaches have a different vantage point and they have that 35,000 ft view. They can see for the players.

So why would you believe that in life, you have to do everything on your own that you cannot ask questions, that you cannot ask for help? That is false.

Feel free to go and get personal life coaching and get the mentoring that can assist you find someone who has someone who has that broader perspective that has been where you want to go. Who can guide you and mentor you so that you can discover your inner power. Your journey can be easier, more effortless, and you can avoid some of the bumps and obstacles.

You will then have steppingstones rather than stopping stones. So until I see you next time...
