Joel could argue that Alaska gave its word that he would serve his term in Anchorage. They broke their word, so he doesn't have to feel loyalty to Maurice or his town. (I'm glad he eventually did, though.)

Take THAT, you arrogant city jerk! Maurice always DID have a way of making a point.
This show was great for about three years, then it "jumped the shark" (meaning it went downhill in quality).
