The life and death of an urban Chelydra (snapping turtle).

Finally, after like 5 years i have made a video of me catching a snapping turtle out of shawnee creek right in the middle of town, and the biggest one i have ever caught at that (it must have been 30lbs)! I've been telling people for several years that if you know what you're doing you can catch them in there and most people are skeptical at best. I've had strangers walking by and literally laugh at me and tell me there were no snapping turtles in there, after i told them what i was fishing for them.

DISCLAIMER: As a warning to any kids that might see this (especially from my town) and are thinking this is really awesome, which it is, and that they want to give this a shot. Don't. It's very dangerous and not exactly smart to try to catch these like i did.. this turtle was big enough to cause serious damage if it had bit me, if not severed fingers... one this big has a massively powerful head and bite, i would have probably had to have killed it to free myself from it's jaws if it had got a hold of me. Not to mention for them being as big as they are these things are incredibly fast. I was going to demonstrate how they can strike with their heads with lightning speed but, i got paranoid because it struck at me when i wasn't really ready for it and because it was so much bigger than the ones i usually deal with. i wasn't really looking forward to fishing my fingers out of it's mouth next.. lol.

I know the risks and precautions and have had experiences doing this for a long time but, it's still really dangerous and stupid to try to catch them by hand, so i advise not trying it at all! (P.S. don't noodle for crawdads in shawnee creek! LOL.)
