[She's Your Sister]
Demi's POV
"You want a drink?" Joe asked my stunned face when he had pulled away. I only managed to nod weakly as he took my hand and led me over to get a drink. A minute later we were both holding beer cans. It surprised me a bit, because just an hour ago I was thinking that he wouldn't like to drink. I guess I was wrong.
"I never knew you were so confident." I said as we sat down on a wooden bench that was beautifully decorated and put on the side of the makeshift dance floor.
Joe shrugged.
"You're not too hard to handle." He took a sip of his beer and glanced at me as I smirked.
"Oh really?" In response he nodded. "We'll just see about that."
He looked at me for a second without blinking, but then snapped his eyes away and looked at the dancing teenagers.
"How old is Chelsea gonna be?" I asked, suddenly remembered the desperate blonde that I half liked. I realized that I had gotten here an hour ago and hadn't even said hello to her, much less looked in her direction.
"17...I think."
I smacked his arm. "You don't even know how old your own sister is?!"
"God," he rubbed his arm, "It's not like it's that important."
"Of course it is. She's your sister." I straightened my shoulders and looked ahead, a movement I usually did when I was trying to prove a point.
"You don't even have siblings, Demi. Why are you lecturing me on mine?"
"Because I don't have siblings." I said it like it was the most obvious thing in the world, causing Joe to laugh. His laugh caused me to laugh, and soon enough we were laughing together. But under the pounding music our laughter faded as our faces became more serious, and they started to lean in. I could feel his breath on my face, soft and warm, as his lips passed slowly over mine, but not enough to satisfy me for the rest of the night. I slowly reached my arms up around his neck, bringing us closer until we-
"Demi!"
That particular voice rang above the music, therefore letting it be heard and making us spring apart.
"Chelsea!" I matched her tone perfectly as she approached us. I was already standing when she pulled me into a hug like we were lifelong friends. I resisted the urge to roll my eyes, because I reminded myself that Chelsea was not like those hypocrites that crowded the hallways at my school.
"I'm so glad you made it." She said when she pulled out of the hug.
"Yeah." I smiled at her, not telling her that the main reason I came was for the youngest brother of her family and not for her. I mean, it's her birthday, I don't have to tell her that now, do I?
A girl over on the dance floor shouted at Chelsea and waved at her frantically for her to go over there. I figured it was because the dance floor was really missing her.
"Come on," she said as she pulled me long by the wrist, "I want you to meet my friends."
"Uh, ok."
That and a glance back at Joe while he shrugged was all I was able to get out before she pulled me in the massive circle of her friends. 2 seconds was all it took for me to feel the sweaty, hot, body heat that the circle made. I was already feeling a little damp around my forehead when she started telling me her friends names.
"Guys this is, uh," She took a small pause, probably not sure what to address me as, "Joe's girlfriend, Demi." Ok, I guess that was a good one.
"Oh my God," The first girl she introduced me to-Bridget I think her name was-had her eyes wide and her mouth open. "So it IS true."
"What?" I asked.
"That Joe actually has a girlfriend!" She exclaimed, then she leaned in closer to me, her voice low but still audible, "Joe has never talked to a girl besides his sisters at school...EVER. And if he does talk to one it's for a school assignment or something." She rolled her eyes.
"Really?" I didn't know it was me asking this, but apparently my mouth had a mind of its own.
"Yeah! Trust me, Tiffany here has been pining for him since freshman year." Bridget laughed a little.
"Shut up! I have not." Tiffany defended herself.
"It's ok, Tiff, we all know you have a small crush on him." Chelsea interjected.
Tiffany smoothed the frown on her forehead then sighed, "He's mysterious, that's all."
That erupted laughter from the large group of girls, and I was surprised to find myself laughing with them.

@ddlandselgomezfan In a way, she doesn't annoy him that much or intimidate him that much. It's ironic because that's kind of what Demi does. She intimidates people and annoys them and tries to make them see that she's better than them, but Joe doesn't see that. So yeah, he really likes her, but right now their feelings are still growing.

lol it's amusing to read how bitchy Demi thinks! You'd think I'd hate her character because she's so mean, but for some reason I can't entirely hate her because she has some rare moments when she acts decent enough(of course those moments are almost always when she's with Joe). And I get the vibe that she's just misunderstood.
