Song & Lyrics by: Gil Scott Heron

This is an early prototype of a video I have planned for later on down the road.
This is a very rough draft and will largely not resemble the end product.

  • i would try moving to Nigeria, no whitey in charge there, black men should thrive

  • It's got nothing to do with you being white! It's got to do with how we spend all that effort and time and money to get on the moon but things are still fucked up here for a lot of people. Amazing how white guilt can make some people so defensive as to say ignorant racist things.

  • Black people have had to fight harder for their still relatively meagre station in American society harder than any "self made man" has for his millions of dollars and yet people have the balls to say that they have to earn their way in life, that the reason they're poor is because they are lazy. It's comical! And you know what? They've been fighting for the good of their fellow man, not just for selfish personal gain.

  • we should send all the niggers to the moon; one way trip.

  • I think Whitey's on the moon. But that's just my theory.

  • Is it explaining something? It sounds like just another anti-White rant, thinly disguised as "social commentary".

  • you have completely forgotten about context and what this song is even explaining

  • Gil wasn`t being racist, he was rightly pointing out the coloured of America were downtrodden, & it was time to stand up & be counted, the Whitey on the moon skit was just that. And anybody who takes that seriously should just look in a mirror & laugh at themselves. It was " Hey look at us we`re poor & downtrodden but happy", solve Americas & the worlds problems, then happily we`ll all go to the Moon & beyond. R.i.p. Gil.

  • I don't normally get involved in these kind of arguments but there is a gold plaque on the moon which reads "We came in peace for all mankind". People would do well to remember that.
