@C05597641 Gil actually died quite recently, very far from the world's richest 10%. He never made much, many artists don't once the record is paid for, the tour is paid for, the ads in the magazines are paid for, the fat cat label bosses are paid. Thanks to the internet it has become much easier to work independently of major corporations and hold onto your own earnings. Ain't too many people getting rich though and Gil never was. He was a great artist and a man of principle and compassion.

The message of this song is both wrong and right. We are wasting money on grand projects while people in situations where they cant help themselves are left to die. If you live in a first world country you are not "left to die".

On the other hand how dare anyone living in the top 10% of the worlds wealthiest (this singer and his peers do) complain about money they are not getting.
