@DoubleOvertime17 he has played for a bit better team, i think thats the reason he has like 1 more career points then tavares, i still belive tavares is the better player but he never talks to the media and doesn't get much attention
@ebtricks agreed man, any real hockey fan would know a goal is harder to come by than an assist. The fact you can dump the puck down the ice and your team can pick it up and flutter a wrist shot on net and score and get a point for that is ridiculous.. if it's a breakaway pass, or great set up then yeah, I would say goals and assists are about the same, but the truth is most assists come from fluke plays.
@Blackoutwalkin He has an excellent team, just not one capable (as of late) at winning the Cup. Forsberg has always played for an excellent Avalanche team, aside from his 13 comeback games. He wasn't shitty, but he wasn't THE BEST PLAYER OF ALL-TIME. Joe Sakic was undoubtedly better as not only a player but as a leader, and the reason why I'm arguing for Ovechkin is because he's better in terms of skill. Skating, shooting, stick-handling, and even intangibles are on Ovechkin's side.
@ebtricks I have actually and there's no excuse for Ovechkin having a bad team. The Caps are a solid offensive force, but their fall back is defensively. And don't make it sound like Forsberg was the only guy on the planet who essentially caught a big break because he was part of a good line-up. You make it look like he was some shitty player who caught it big by being part of a good line-up. Don't criticize a player simply because they aren't a goal scorer.
@Blackoutwalkin I am an Avs fan, and I at least understand the difference between individual and team statistics. The Stanley Cup is never won by one man, and Forsberg owes more credit to Sakic and Roy for his rings than himself. He wasn't even playing for all the playoffs in 2001.
Numbers do win championships when you have them spread evenly across the team with a couple of superstars and a great goalie. Peter had that luxury, Alex doesn't. You obviously haven't seen either play that much.
@DoubleOvertime17 actually guy tavares has more points.. nice try
