READ ME FIRST: My very good friend, Dominick, has been in a small arms race with me, ever since I introduced him to the world of synthesizers, digital audio editing, and the Macintosh. Presented here are a few minutes of his Florida studio, circa 2006. Dominick has since relocated to California, where the next incarnation of his studio is in full development.
I'll have to touch base with Dom to see if I can get some footage from his new setup!
Enjoy the tour of his amazing, Macintosh based ProTools setup!

I have an Imac and I'm running Apple Logic. I'm using the CAD M9 microphone. I do not have a pre amp yet. I was looking into getting the Apogee Duet, but I'm not sure if that's the best route.

alright for under 400 dollars look at a blue bird by blue
one of the best brands out there but for about 500 you could get a Blue Baby Bottle which is about one of the best micraphines out there for under a thousand, you could use it for anything, and it has professional results
as far as pre amps go you could get into a an art tube or somthing like that but if your going to spend good monry on a mic then you need to do the same with a pre amp
what kind of protools setup are you using to record

I would go for a shure sm58 or sm57. only about 100 each, im actually about to buy them to add to my setup. but thats just me. I have a G track usb mic with a built in interface and thats pretty good but Im gonna route it through a mixer and audio interface to get a cleaner recording

Anyone with a Mac and a studio please answer this question. What is the best condenser microphone for vocal recording? Preferably under $400. I need a good pre amp, too.
