  • Got shortened. I was just mentioning the section on the Narrows with the sand bags. This is fairly recent if you count the 1950s as recent. There are dates etched into the concrete from 1952 if my memory is correct. This was the end of any protection for Spurn.

  • I really like this film which is beautifully shot with an excellent commentary. My only quibble is about part one where the comments about the concrete road lying on the beach give the impression that it has just happened. I remember when this part of the 1940s road went in the 1980s and 1990s. Now the concrete slabs on the beach appear and reappear as the sand builds up or gets stripped away. Certainly we do have sudden destructive events and they happen unexpectedly at times but I thought tha
