Real State Zombies

The piece was done in the collaboration with the artist Varvara
Guljajeva.

In 2009, the real estate crisis has catastrophic effects, 55.000 real
estate agencies were closed this year. Spain is now a big cemetery of
buildings. Cities are full of unfinished constructions and empty
houses. Because of lack of employment, many families have trouble
paying back the mortgages of the houses that were constructed during
the past years of overbuilding.

This is the landscape we encounter after entering Real Estate Zombies:
A graveyard in which we can find, among the thick fog and eerie burial
melody, the headstones of companies who have gone bankrupt. Screens
embedded into the tombstones show the passed good times of these dead
companies. Who knows, maybe someday they will rise from the dead.
