Wow. This is an excellent movie. That scene alone has so much more to it than entire hollywood films.

Almosts puts Shakespeare in the shade; doesn't it remind you of other thoughtful moments in the graveyard?

This is no "film by John Cassavetes" in the way the films are in which he directed, although he seems to have had a hand in the direction of this film as well. And this is no film in the "Cassavetes style" either, but a film influenced a lot by him. This is an Elaine May-film. Watch "The heartbreak kid" and you'll see this same unique, witty, slow, dreamlike direction of dialogue. May is to Cassavetes I think what Parajanov is to Tarkovsky: A unique genius inspired greatly by another one.

R.I.P Peter Falk...this is a great scene.

Well, I see everyone here praises Cassavetes but almost no one says anything about Peter Falk. :-(
Peter Falk is one of my favorite actors (I have several xD).
Sorry for my bad English.

Elaine May directed this film; she is using the Cassavetes style

It is. As amazing a director as Cassavetes was, he was also a consummate actor.

btw--my friend played with Jaco in the eighties and said he was an asshole...
On the DVD Talk site it says:
"In the beginning, Cassavetes was doing some of the shooting himself, which resulted in dailies where dozens of film rolls screened with no image on them at all!"

You've got good taste.
Not sure if I want to past more of it. Buy the dvd. It has excellent bonus material (ie when they talk about the scenes that were directed by Cassavetes)
