If 3 pennies are correct then why is 5 used in this video?

thank you so freaking much! I couldn't figure out what was wrong :( now I can so faster than ever!

While investigating this weight issue more it seems that the unit should be for grains of 210 gr then, grams = 13.6 g whidh is almost exactly in line with all other sewing machines and would equal the clothespin with pennies shown in the video. Each penny weighs 2.5 g [grams]. Another test for tension is equal to the weight of the bobbin case [with screw] & full bobbin = about 8 pennies.

Wondering which machine uses the 210 grams resistance. Every single machine I have worked on uses considerably less than that. Much closer to between 70 to 140 on heavy or fairly thick stack of material.
Very interesting I've seen this number before recently. If I find it again with more information it will be posted heree.

210 grams. Thank you very much. This is the first video that I have seen that gives an unambiguous answer to this question.
Thank you for your response. You are correct that is a typo the three penny clothespin trick works but it is 21 grams. Have a great day.
