There was 20-30 minutes of extremely polite customer service before this video was recorded. She was upset for good reason. However, there was nothing we could do to help her.

She was requesting a LOANER phone. Something that was provided by select stores for CONVENIENCE for the customer due to either warranty replacement or insurance claims, it was not required. In order to check out a loaner phone the store required 3 things and a signed agreement. (1) An Order number for either warranty replacement device OR Insurance claim ID. (to ensure that there is a phone coming) (2) A valid contact number. (3) An authorized credit/debit card slip for $100.00 should the phone not be returned within 14 Calander days. (A great number of customers would change they're credit card numbers and keep the phones, this is the reason we had none in stock)

This customer did not have a valid order number or insurance claim noted in her account. This could be due to customer care not making the notation however. In this case we would call customer care or the insurance company and verify the validity and make note of the order/claim number.

When explained that we did not have any loaner phones in stock, and offered to call around to other stores in the area to have one held for her she started swearing and raising her voice, insulting the employees etc.

When we would dial another store she would start yelling that "she wasn't leaving without a phone" and so we were back to square one explaining that we did not have a phone to give her.. This repeated a number of times in cycles of swearing and insults before she was politely asked to leave.

  • @marcot401 No, she couldn't be helped. She wanted a loaner phone, that we didn't have. she became irate, which we understood. However when we tried to help her she kept swearing and yelling. This video was started after we called security. This particular store has had customer threaten to come back with a gun in the past (because they tried to return a damaged phone, and I declined) so I originally recorded this for my safety as the store's cameras do not record audio.

  • That's all it takes. I work in retail and if the customer is being extremely rude to me, I could give a shit if "The customer is the boss" I won't help assholes and/or bitches. Talk to me in a civil tone and I will do what I can. That's all it takes.

  • The customer is NOT the boss. They customers, they're guests. You are not some bootlicking buttkissing suckup who will jump on every command from the customer. Fuck that.

  • If she had placed an order over the phone for a warranty exchange, then the order number would have automatically been stamped to her account even if customer care failed to leave a note. Also, it is the customer's responsibility to phone ahead unless the customer specifically requests customer service to call ahead first. Even then they'll only do it in specific situations.

  • The sad thing here is, being a call center employee, she is not even anywhere near hostile compared to what I handle everyday.

  • I can't believe you all helped her out after all that!That is great customer service.I can't believe she started crying too,something must have been going on that day to make her so upset.

  • Unfortunately there are people that believe acting like an animal will magically gain them whatever they are asking for regardless of the situation. I suspect the video would have been more lively if started earlier since having security right there ready to remove you has a "behave stop throwing tantrum and cussing/threatening" effect.

  • 35 people clearly have not worked in retail wireless. I get people like this DAILY!! our customers are so spoiled.
