Interesting. New York, crowded as it is, can be an incredibly lonely place for some people. She just seems to be ambling through life, intent on not being noticed too much. The look on the face of the woman on the park bench was intriguingly ambiguous too. Is she shocked that a woman in New York would choose to wear something that the women in the book she is reading are forced by the state to wear? Or is she just naively enthused to see an up close example of one of the book's main themes?
