Welcoming Tom, Gi, Dougie and Frankie at Gatwick Airport - 10/01/10

The day I (properly) met Tom and Dougie from McFLY for the first time...

Things happen when you least expect them to happen!

I was on holiday in Woking, Surrey (UK) and up to that day everything had gone totally wrong. All football matches I wanted to see were called off due to the bad weather, my mobile phone broke and my lift back to Germany was cancelled! I love England and I love my second home Woking, but this week just hadn't quite gone according to plan...

And then it suddenly seemed as if there could be a Happy End: Thanks to Twitter I could figure out which plane Tom and co were on. So I went to the airport still thinking this would never happen anyway. I didn't have any expectations whatsoever and wouldn't have been too disappointed if I hadn't met them. And then I really spottet them...well, Tom's hat, to be precise ;)

They all looked really knackered, so I didn't want to bother them too much... I had so many questions but as I said they all looked quite tired and I know how you feel even after a short flight! So I just asked Tom for some autographs (I got him to sign my Harry Potter book and a little piece of paper http://img131.yfrog.com/i/img7181.jpg/) and then Gi took a photo of me and Tom. I only talked to Tom btw... if you can even call it "talking"^^ Said some pretty random things like "I love your music", "you are not very tall" and "nice to meet you". He was absolutely gorgeous... They all were :) And Gi and Tom are such a lovely couple! As are Frankie and Dougie!

I just felt a bit ashamed of not having spoken to Dougie... he must have felt rather ignored! I have to say I'm quite shy and had never really talked to famous people before... Tom's just... how shall I put it... more the "talk-to-me" kinda person, if you know what I mean!

Anyway, this meeting really made my holiday and that day went down in history as one of the best days in the life of shy little Simone :)

Thanks Tom, Gi, Dougie and Frankie for just being at the airport that day :) Also, a big thank you to Debbie who was one of the keys to success... her tweets helped me find out which plane they were on!

I'd never really believed those people who constantly kept telling me "be patient, one day you'll meet McFYL or at least one of the lads"... And all I can say now is: they were right! Since then I've met McFLY like 15 times (and also some of their family) :)
