I'm on day 4 after a superficial parotidectomy by a maxillo facial surgeon in England. I have bruising: purple on my neck and blue under the skin in front of my ear. I have had no pain, apart from pressure from the swelling. My ear is numb, particularly the lobe but I have no facial nerve damage.
ghijay, you must have a MRI scan to tell whether you have a deep or a superficial tumour. It must be operated, in either case. Find a good surgeon who only does facial/jaw operations. Good luck!

I had this procedure the other day 6/13/2011 it is now fri. 17th and i am feeln fine.. my face is numb but i am recovering just fine

i have the same problem since 2007 i noticed a mass in the left side of my face.i have it checked and my doctor told me that it was a parotid mass.i have a fine needle biopsy and it shown benign last 2009.and i was advised to had an operation but i was really afraid....is there any other options aside from having a total parotidectomy?im afraid that any complications would occur after the operation...pls advise me what to do?thanks
