The Bowen Black Sheep Morris Dancers' performances consist of: anywhere from two to four musicians and four to twelve dancers, depending on turn-out. Sheep do often wander.
The Dancers were founded in 1998 by organizer, lead musician and teacher of the dances, Bob Doucet - who holds the title Squire: leader of the Black Sheep.
Why Morris dance? There is satisfaction in upholding old traditions with a motley crew - just because it's what they do. The crowds, the fame, the black makeup running into your eyes...those are just the perks!
