This is a device I built using some Russian Nixie tubes that display letters and symbols. It shows the word "Punk", then scrolls the letters and flashes on and off before starting over. Has a speed control knob and studded leather trim!
I don't have a schematic, just my notes. I am planning on making more of these to sell so I don't want to give it all away but it involves a 555, a 4017, and some high voltage transistors. No microprocessors or anything fancy.
As a frequent buyer of Russian Nixies and VFD tubes, I often wondered what these non-numeric tubes could be used for outside of specific pieces of test equipment. This is quite a creative use!
Thanks! I have been trying to come up with ways to use Nixie tubes besides the HH:MM:SS all-in-a-row clock. Not that I won't be building some clocks soon...
what is the song in the background?

@Dash02
No song...just noises!?! If you meant to post this on the Mini Nixie Punk Display video, that one has "Six Pack" by Black Flag playing...

Do you have schematics for this thing? I want to build one after seeing this.
