I was there too immanent.. please try to go back to that group's meetings regularly in the future. I think they're getting a sense that  they need to open their minds a bit -- It's the Paul camp that will bring the Republican party back into relevance, if anyone.

Elections are won by those who show up!!! Ron Paul has the most grass roots supporters BY FAR, and he will be our next president. He has the MOST momentum of any candidate, and is not motivated by power, but by liberty. VOTE RON PAUL 2008!!

I went to a Tarrant county (TX) GOP meeting yesterday where one of Ron Paul's sons, Dr. Robert Paul, gave a brief speech. Half of the 40-50 people there were Ron Paul Meetup members, and a handful of brainwashed "good ole' boy" Bush backers were there heckling him on foreign policy. Its seems like older people can't seem to catch on and still parrot the defunct neo-con talking points.

Party nominees are decided in the primaries of each state, which start in January of the election year. Used to be you had time to campaign state to state to build a base, but now a lot of states are bunching together, eroding part of the democratic process. I'm sure they'd give you another BS reason why, but its clearly to exclude candidates not funded by special interests.

It varies state to state. In Iowa, all Iowans were allowed to vote, but you had to pay $35 for a ticket. In Texas, only delegates to past GOP conventions get to participate in the straw and they also have to pay something like $75. I wonder what the rules were for this NH straw.

I'd be curious to see a straw result that didn't require a fee and allowed all to vote ... which may have been the case here.

Actually a straw poll lets the leadership of a party know how much volunteer support they can expect for a given candidate.

It's all well and good that a guy have $30 million dollars, but that does't help the county GOP chairman, when he needs to door-knock.

The point here isn't that Ron Paul won or not, it's the fired up supporters that the county GOP leadership is looking at.
