two akai s612 that are manually sampling snippets from a tune off an ipod, the samples are at the same time played back as chords which are sequenced from a monomachine.

  • @gamatron17 Agreed,

I made up some drum kits and resampled each sound through the s612 and then transferred to my MPC4000. The kits have come out really really good. No amount of plugins/eq etc would have achieved that sound. Very chunky, in your face, v Cool.

  • @harrymerchant456 ya i own 4 of them. I play live with these and yes you can get some great gritty base out of them.

  • This machine is one of the best kept secrets in music gear.

Whilst its totally cool for on the fly sample manipulation which it does really well.

Its also really cool for making bass lines sound really crunchy

in a V musical and cool sounding way. Just sample bass notes until you find one you like, sequence it up

and you have a bass sound with real character. Remember theres an analog filter stage built in to the machine and its 12 bit. People are paying hundreds for that these days.

  • octatrack on the cheap ;-)

  • confuzed ...

  • I had the same idea but with the s612 sampling another 612 while doing slider adjustments. kudos

  • 0:46 I think it just let off wind lol

  • Is it possible to get a loop going on this and slave a drum machine to it via midi?

I'm trying to find info about it but there isn't that much other than the specs online.

  • Sweet! Does anyone know where I could buy one of these/ Preferably with the o.s. upgrades.

    Thanks

  • Great machines! I got 4 of them, 2 of them with o.s. upgrades wich include multitimbral operation, delay and improved looping. You can never have enough of these :-)

    Great stuff
