I played on the same hockey team with one of Bobby's nephews who was a great guy and totally humble (just like Bobby). That was cool enough, but one night Bobby came to one of our games and came into the dressing room afterwards! We all got to meet him and he gave each of us a personalized signed picture which was framed. Really AWESOME thing to do for a bunch of teens and a moment that I'll never forget!

Even with that titanium knee, I bet if Orr grabbed a stick and played a few shifts, he'd still play a respectable game. As for Bobby Clarke, I'd have bet my last nickel he'd never get a round of applause in Boston (He scored the overtime goal in game 2 at Boston Garden in the 74' Stanley Cup finals). But we do appreciate great hockey in Boston and Clarke came to play ever shift..

I did not have the good fortune of seeing him play. I was too young. I was born in 1972. But I've seen clips of him for years & years, & I'm also convinced that he's the greatest player ever. I'm not sure there are enough adjectives to describe him. Serge Savard said there should've been another league for Orr. What you mentioned about his humility is something I've noticed for years. I think all the compliments embarass him. He's a rather reserved person, but still very fan-friendly.

Yep. Bobby Orr, Phil Esposito, Wayne Cashman. As Bill Barber says in the HBO Bullies special: "The list (of Bruin stars) goes on and on...." The Flyers had a bit of luck that day, for sure.

l don't remember the yr, but Canada Cup was being played in TO. And of course Orr was playing. Orr was in his own end skating with the puck up towards his own blue line. All the Canadian players were waiting for him at the other blue line, no-one was behind Orr. A Chez play went up to check Orr, Orr put a move on that Chez. he is still looking for him. The great hockey in the history of the game.

The Legend .....still is!
If Bobby Orr wanted to play in the offensive zone, the score would be 8 to 3. If he wanted to play in the defensive zone, the score would be 3 to 1. He was the Lawrence Taylor of defense and the Barry Sanders of offense, with a mixture of the Harlem Globe Trotters. There wasn't anything that man couldn't do on an Ice surface. His humility is his greatest gift. Never talks about himself.
