Here's the Sydney incarnation of late-night horror movie host Deadly Earnest, Ian Bannerman.

It's not taken from his own program, but from a guest appearance on Barry Crocker's "Say It With Music" variety program, the 16mm print of which is in my collection.

Bannerman has long been though to be the original Australian Deadly, but it was recently learnt that TVW-7 Perth had one in 1961, played by Max Bostock...

So far as I'm aware, this is the only known piece of footage of Bannerman as Deadly - anyone know of others?.

  • What a let down! I wanted to see the Deadly Earnest of the 1970s of South Australia. He was a legend. Instead all I see is Barry Crock-of-shit.

  • @jonathan45278 - If you wanted to see the SA Deadly, why'd you click on a clip that clearly said "Sydney" in the title?

  • Embarrassingly lame compared to Melbourne's Deadly Earnest, Ralph Baker!

  • Is this the same spooky old house that Brad and Janet found themselves in?

  • Great stuff. I still have Deadly Earnest's record.

  • I can't belive I'm actually seeing Deadly Earnest again! I used to watch him every Saturday night and I still have my DE Fan Club card. Great stuff ... keep it coming.

  • THis is great to see Deadly Earnest again..I've long since been back in Texas-usa..But I lived in Sydney in the mid1960s as a kid and loved to stay up to watch Awful Movie..and Creature Feature on friday nights!...
