Gary Payton is a better all around player than Jason Kidd. Better defender because he is a 9th time NBA ALL Defensive Team, and the only PG in the 1990's to win the Defensive Player of the Year.

Kidd is a triple double machine, but he never have the leadership, and scoring ability of a prime Gary Payton.

i dunno man, payton is one of the best pgs there ever was, his defense was remarkable...his DPOY and his 9 time all defensive first team selcetions are a testament to that. I mean hes the only PG to EVER win the DPOY. Dont get me wrong, stockton and kidd are good defensive players, stockton being scrappy and in ur face and kidd beign solid, but they're no payton. And dont forget GP was a stellar offensive player whos a much better shooter then kidd and clutch.
