Homemade video to oscilloscope converter box. It allows a video signal to be displayed on a CRT-based oscilloscope with Z-axis intensity modulation. This is the first of five video display projects I've built. The box uses 2 phantastron oscillators to produce the sawtooth waves for the horizontal and vertical scanning. For some reason the horizontal phase is way off with the horizontal sync pules, resulting in picture overlap. The horizontal oscillator was turned down to half frequency (single field display) to show the picture more properly. The lines covering the image are flyback lines from the vertical retrace period.

  • @AllAmericanFiveRadio This is the experiment that "started it all." Once I did this, I was able to go all the way to 23" in black and white!

  • Very nice experiment!

  • @SmashCOBamberg Thanks! Check out the new uploads for improved picture quality.
