@deanlibertyoldtimeco There's no denying the Nimitz is better, but that's because they're about 40 years newer. I think they put the Iowa as number one just as a tribute the the WWII ships and the men that served aboard them. There's no denying that the Iowas saw their fair share of combat, plus their service length ended up being damn near as long as the Nimitz class. Impressive for steam boiler powered World War II battleships

should be #1. If I had the choice of one Nimitz or 10 Iowa battleships. I would take the Nimitz sounds like someone at military channel is a little biased.

@1988scottcarey Only if it has its own airwing...without an airwing US carriers are useless. In comparisson to russian who make aircraft carriers which are actualy missile cruisers and in case of its airwing being destroyed can still punch a big number of nuclear or antiship missiles
