Imperial Valley Chat: How to change Calexico, California.

Changing Imperial Avenue through the "downtown" section of Calexico, California, to make it easier for traffic to get through, while at the same time not hindering business.

Creating an expressway, then service roads, then blocks for businesses.

Behind those blocks, put parkland, then low-rent housing and apartment buildings.

And, the reason for the parks and spaces would be to benefit Homeland Security measures if they had to redirect traffic, set up "areas" for whatever reason.

It would encourage more people to stick around Calexico and spend money, and makes Calexico look "greener," not so draub as you drive through.

Sky have you ever been to Boston? Have you heard of the big dig? They moved the expressway underground. I have an Idea similar to yours. Bulldoze the entire city and move it closer to the ocean.

ok i get the expressway, but how in the hell are the "local" businesses going to survive, do you actually know where like 90% of calexico's economy comes from...Mexicali...so what's going to happen to the "local" stores...that's what I really don't understand, and besides, why an expressway?? so mexicali people can get to walmart faster? that's were they are going anyways

i dont think it would really work.. but at least someone has an idea

work on Heber not Calexico. This city is fine the way it is, well maybe get rid of "la Vaca" store on 5th and Imperial Ave.

Plus, there's always Heber Ave. to avoid traffic from Imperial ave. Rockwood is not a good idea.
